NedTrain is the maintenance company from the NS (Dutch Railways). Nearby the Maastricht Central Station one can find their yard including the oldest train maintenance location of the country; it has been over 150 years in business, still serving the Dutch Railways.
The mechanics of the NedTrain Maintenance where eager to have the contrast between those old “steamloc days” and the modern electric equipment illustrated on a huge mural in one off their immense halls.
The painting shows one of the first locs (dated 1871) and the latest train model: the VIRM. The mural measures ca. 15m x 5m.
